Muhammad Zubair Rafique

Muhammad Zubair Rafique, a researcher, data analyst, and M&E specialist, brings with him more than ten years of work experience in the social and development sectors.

Zubair is a Founding Director at Versatile Consultants (Private) Limited. Currently, he is working as an M&E Professional at Dasu Hydro Power Project (DHPP) and working as a Consultant with the National Bureau of Economic Research USA (NBER) on a project titled “Women Inheritance in Pakistan”. 

With scores of research and development sector projects to his credit, he has worked with projects and assignments of WHO, UNDP, USAID, ILO, World Bank, JICA, Save the Children, The Asia Foundation, Plan International, and UKAID. He has also worked with teams of researchers from Harvard, the London School of Economics, MIT, and Duke University.

Zubair is a known name in consulting research in Pakistan. He has managed large-scale countrywide survey studies. Apart from serving, he has also worked as a monitoring and evaluation expert on many of his assignments. Behind the desk, he is an expert in developing EOIs and proposals. He has an in-depth understanding of qualitative and quantitative tools and designing research studies. He is also an expert trainer. As a data analyst, he understands the stages of data management, from its collection in the field to making a sense of it for policy recommendation.

He has a Master’s in Economics from the International Islamic University Islamabad, his research areas include poverty reduction, socio-economic surveys, skills development, governance, health, education, conflict mapping, stakeholders’ analysis, and women empowerment.

Project Manager

Dr. Aamir Hayat

Dr. Aamir Hayat is a project manager at Versatile Consultants, and holds a Ph.D. degree in Sociology from Government College University Faisalabad. He is a dynamic and seasoned sociologist with experience in teaching and social development fields, specifically in rehabilitation and restoration, social research, poverty alleviation, mobilization, and community development.

He has worked with national and international organizations in Pakistan, including the World Bank, UNICEF, CAMP, WHO, PSPU, AKU, and several national NGOs and field partners.

He possesses knowledge and understanding of qualitative, quantitative, and marketing research, as well as strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills. He excels in social gatherings/functions and has excellent presentation skills within communities.

Additionally, he has research publications in national and international journals. He is also working as an Assistant Professor/Head of the Department (HoD) at the School of Sociology at Minhaj University Lahore.

Shahid Iqbal Butt

Shahid Iqbal is a survey expert, having begun his career as a Statistician, Shahid Iqbal Butt embarked on a professional journey with the country’s foremost statistical agency, FBS (Federal Bureau of Statistics), which later transitioned into PBS (Pakistan Bureau of Statistics).

Over nearly three decades, this tenure offered him an expansive platform encompassing various statistical and data collection activities. This rich environment became a nurturing ground, honing his skills and expertise, and allowing him to excel across multiple roles and positions within the organization. He has significantly contributed to the successful execution of surveys nationwide.

Sajjad Aslam

Sajjad Aslam has more than 10 years of experience in managing nationwide complex surveys, impact assessments, and evaluations. 

His expertise range from, project management, monitoring and evaluation, qualitative & quantitative research, designing data collection tools, hiring of field staff, training, guidance, support and supervision of project team, formulation and origination of data entry software programs. 

Number crunching is his passion and data analysis is his specialty. 

He has a Masters in Economics from International Islamic University Islamabad. 

Being a result-oriented person, He has successfully managed projects for different development organizations such as UNFAO, UNWFP, UNDP, USAID, Solidarities international, UNODC, Save the Children, Adam Smith International, World Bank, HEC, BISP and DCTE under various thematic areas. 

Sajjad has managed nationwide studies and supervised teams belonging to different geographical and linguistic backgrounds. He possesses good team-building skills and have coordinated and managed teams of both local and international consultants for timely project delivery. 

For project execution, He has frequently traveled to Pakistan (Punjab, Sindh, KPK, Balochistan and Gilgit).

Saira Nadeem

Saira Nadeem has more than 6 years of working experience in the Social and Development sector across Punjab.

She has worked with various National Organizations in different assignments such as the Center for Economic Research in Pakistan (CERP), APEX Consulting Pakistan, FAFEN, VTT Global, RSPN, MASHAL, Grass Root Organization for Human Development, DEVCON, Agha Khan University and PHC Global.

She frequently writes in a Paper on different socio-economic issues. Saira has exceptional report writing skills. Saira has a Masters’  in Social Work from the University of the Punjab, Lahore.

Her areas of interest include Child Welfare, Public health, Education, Mental Health, and Women Empowerment.

Haris Mustafa

Haris Mustafa has more than 8 years of working experience in the Social and Development sector across the country.

He has worked with various national and international organizations in different assignments such as the Center for Economic Research in Pakistan (CERP), APEX Consulting Pakistan, SEBCON Private Ltd, BOS, GAT Consultants, Semiotics Consultants, CHIP, NIPS, Gallup International and SDPI.

Haris has worked for the donors/clients including WHO, UNICEF, World Bank, The Asia Foundation, PCSW, State Bank, BOS, BISP, Plan International and UKAID.

During his professional career, he has been involved in the fields like Monitoring and Evaluation, Field Management, Team Management, and Data Collection and Management.

Haris has a Masters in Economics from Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) Islamabad. 

His research areas include poverty reduction, socio-economic surveys, skills development, health, education, and women empowerment.

Syed Mohammad Ismail Bukhari

Ismail is a permanent team member of Versatile Consultants (Private) Limited. He has over 10 years of experience in the Social and Development sector working with Pakistan’s leading organizations like APEX, SEBCON, OPM, SDPI, CERP, and VTT Global as Field Supervisor, Field Manager, Monitoring Officer, Provincial Coordinator, and in other key positions. 

He has managed various surveys across the country. Ismail has rendered his services to the Government and Social Development sectors in the areas of research, monitoring, and evaluation. He has supervised field teams from different geographical and linguistic backgrounds. 

Ismail has a Master in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Peshawar.

Haider Ali is a highly skilled and accomplished professional with a proven track record in managing surveys and logistics. With 6 years of experience in the field, Haider has excelled in his roles and has contributed significantly to the success of various organizations.

As a founding director of Versatile Consultants, Haider has played a pivotal role in establishing and growing the company. His expertise in survey management has enabled the organization to provide valuable insights and strategic recommendations to clients across diverse industries.

Before his role at Versatile Consultants, Haider served as a key member of the survey management teams at Apex Consulting Pakistan and Contech International. During his tenure, he successfully managed numerous surveys, working closely with clients to understand their requirements, develop survey frameworks, and deliver high-quality results.

Currently, Haider focuses on logistic management at Versatile Consultants (Private) Limited. Leveraging his strong organizational skills and attention to detail, he ensures seamless coordination of resources, timely delivery of services, and cost-effective solutions for clients. His ability to optimize logistics operations has resulted in increased efficiency and improved client satisfaction.

Haider holds a bachelor’s degree in Arts from the University of Sargodha. His educational background, combined with his extensive professional experience, has equipped him with a well-rounded skill set that encompasses both strategic thinking and operational expertise.

Senior Report Writer

Daud Malik

Daud Malik is an experienced democratic governance expert and researcher, with background in media, communication and development sector. His research areas include rule of law, elections, public sector governance, stakeholder analysis. 

He has authored reports on livelihood, rehabilitation, stakeholder analysis, rule of law, voter education, home-based workers, FATA, media, off-grid consumers. In 2018, he co-authored a report, funded by FES, on the ten years of parliament (National Assembly and Senate). In 2017 and 2018, he worked with the EU-funded SUBAI project to help update the website of Balochistan Assembly and citizen guides in Urdu on the provincial legislature.

He has worked with leading English dailies – The News and Dawn. As National Press Officer of Oxfam International after the 2005 earthquake, he worked closely with the Advocacy team to highlight issues related to building back better. For three years (2007-2010) he has worked with the USAID-funded Pakistan Legislative Strengthening Project, as Representation Advisor. His work with the National Assembly and Senate and the four provincial assemblies helped in extending their outreach.

He headed the English publication section of the Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI), editing its by-monthly research publication and research papers. 

Daud Malik did his master’s in English Literature from Gordon College, Rawalpindi.

Muhammad Farhan Aslam is a Google Certified Data Analyst with 12 years of experience in the field of Data Management (database development, data cleaning, data analysis, and visualization), Management Information Systems, Knowledge Hub Management, Research, Reporting and Capacity Building. 

He has extensive working experience with development, public sector and International Donors (World Health Organization and Chemonics International) on Health Information Systems and Digital Health projects in Pakistan.

Farhan is currently working with the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulation and Coordination (NHSRC) as a Data Analyst at the National level as part of its Health Planning, Systems Strengthening & Information Analysis component and providing support to the Ministry on Global Burden of Disease (GBD), COVID-19 data analysis, Pakistan Nursing Council Data Management, District Health Information System, Pakistan Health Knowledge Hub and Digital Health in Pakistan.

Tahir Jelani has managed countrywide projects in Pakistan and Afghanistan, including the Poverty Scorecard Survey for BISP and the Third Party Field Monitoring for COMNet and Regular Programmes of UNICEF. 

A permanent team member of Versatile Consultants, he supervises monitoring projects across Pakistan. With extensive experience in managing and conducting national, provincial and district household surveys, censuses, and monitoring and evaluation projects in education, health, livelihood, WASH, environment, community physical infrastructure, technical and vocational, and nutrition initiatives, he has worked with educational institutions, advertising agency and consultancy firms. He has also successfully designed a web-based GIS-enabled M&E Reporting System for real-time monitoring, besides developing a manual for field monitoring.

Dr. Shafiq Ahmed

Dr. Shafiq Ahmed is a seasoned Social Development, Research, and Resettlement Specialist with over a decade of experience on World Bank–funded hydropower and infrastructure projects in Pakistan. His core expertise includes land acquisition, resettlement planning, livelihood restoration, survey design, research studies, and project management. He holds a PhD in Resettlement Science & Management from Hohai University, China.

Dr. Ahmed has contributed extensively to major social safeguard initiatives, including Social Impact Assessments (SIA), Resettlement Action Plans (RAP), Livelihood Restoration Plans (LRP), and In-Migrants Management Plans. His work demonstrates strong capabilities in managing field teams, supervising compensation and relocation activities, conducting surveys and stakeholder consultations, and ensuring compliance with World Bank Environmental and Social Standards (ESS).

With multiple peer-reviewed publications and international research collaborations, he excels in applying mixed research methods to assess social risks and development impacts. His portfolio also includes planning and monitoring, stakeholder engagement, gender action planning, and strengthening grievance redress systems.
